More Stories links no longer work. Not certain when they stopped working. However, I just tested them after reinstalling the app and they still don't work. The ads links work, though. I don't use this app to see ads. I'm certain that benefits Yahoo and its advertisers. What's even worse are the ads that fill the screen and as I scroll past them, they jump back repeatedly to the ad. Ugh. If you're going to shove ads in our face. At least make the app work. UPDATE: their support deserves a ZERO!
Used to work fantastic, and now it's just been an issue ever since you guys decided to interject ridiculous sized ads. Do appreciate the Dark theme option though! Update... Just want to watch a quick clip of a highlight of a game, that doesn't work because once you've watched 30 seconds of ads that's all you get to see. I also see you are using fake email accounts, to keep your ratings high. Reminds me a lot of Google and Microsoft
The app is great for sports news and scores. Absolutely love it! The reason for the three star rating is that this app accumulates a ton of storage space on my phone. The last two times I've cleared the data storage on my phone it was over 10GB and 7GB. Not sure why it needs that much space or why it can't delete old data after a timeframe.
I like this app for the simple layout to keep an eye on scores for my favorite teams. However, I recently turned the notifications back on (through android settings) and am honestly shocked at the number and different kinds of notifications that show up by default. I am not running a casino. Why would there be so many? Why is everything (and I mean everything) turned ON by default? I had to turn it all back off because I actually use my phone for other things, too.
New UI is awful. Features gone. From matchup/score screen, can no longer click one of the teams to get to their page to look at their schedules/stats. No idea how to check schedules anymore. Looks like it's only happening for college football, for games not yet played. Finished games and other sports work
Use to be pretty decent. The way that the ads snap to the full screen when you are scrolling is SO annoying! You try to scroll past and it just snaps right back. You have to scroll all the way past and make sure you don't accidentally scroll into the ad slightly again or it snaps to full screen again. Terrible design!
I've been using the , Yahoo Sports app for 2-4 years. I use it for very informative and their point spreads are pretty accurate. I'll give it a 70/30 winning percentage. It is my go to app when my wife and I participate in the family pool every NFL season. we've put a few coins in our pockets, nothing big, it's $10 bucks per person. It's a winner take all. In the event of a tie, we use the Monday night game with a combined total of both teams scores. It's usually a $100-$150 dollar pot.
Not getting notifications for all goals despite correctly setting up notifications. Edit: ...and yet you still reply with that boilerplate response even after I said they are correctly set up. This app does NOT work as intended. I do not recommend this app if you want to keep track of scoring via notifications.
It's an okay enough sports app. The one I use most for scores, but it's not without problems. The most annoying one is that the ads have become extremely intrusive. This makes it near impossible to read articles as the page automatically moves itself to the next full screen ad. After fighting with the ad to return to your spot, the page moves itself back to the ad. I have abandoned many articles because I'm basically not allowed to read them, just look at their ads.
The ads within the articles make it absolutely infuriating to read them—if even the slightest edge of the ad is visible, the entire screen hops from where you are up/down to reveal the whole ad. If this happened once per article, okay. But no, you have to quickly swipe completely off the large ad to avoid that, usually to the point where you have to miss part of the article. Uninstalled; I'd rather read it on Chrome or just another article altogether.
For over a decade, Yahoo Sports has been my go-to sports app. If it gets buggier, I'll be looking elsewhere. With the last update scrolling will simply freeze. Can't scroll back or forward. Often an article loads as far as the headline but the story section is blank. Then there are the VERY annoying ads for "The Old Man" which jump into that whole screen and, if I scroll down, if any of the ad is still visible, it jumps back up to the top of the ad. Arrgh!
New app redesign blows beyond belief. Super ugly design, gross childish font, everything feels too spread out and hard to read, large News button in the middle of the screen that no one wants to look at, hard to navigate layout with all the buttons at the top instead of the bottom (seriously, what were they thinking?), and every time you open the app - or press the back button - it takes you to the general app homepage, forcing you to click back into your fantasy sport/league. So frustrating.
I like the app in general, but I have a very specific request for the NHL standings. After wins, losses, and points, the next column is "ROW", for Regulation and Overtime Wins (but not shootout wins). This used to be the first tiebreaker, so it was important enough to be put there. The NHL changed the tiebreaker a few years ago, so now just Regulation Wins is the first tiebreaker. Could RWs be added to this screen? If there isn't room for both, RWs are now more important than ROWs.
I get good information from this app, but mostly use it to keep up with games I can't watch. Anymore, for NFL games, plays on the Game tab do not keep pace with the game, even though plays on the Plays tab do. For MLB games, the innings don't switch at the appropriate times it will show the batting team as the pitching team and the pitching team, even though the game has moved along and the plays underneath the graphics are correct.
Made a big mistake by updating this app. The redesign is horrible and is more difficult to navigate. Reason for update? Within the app, some pages load and some . The videos are unwatchable because of the very intrusive ads. I get the fact that this how they earn their living but they took that idea it too far with the ads that next level obnoxious
I'm loving it. I've had for years ESPN app, which I hate for the long time it takes to open up. yahoo sports opens almost instantly, sports score are well organized, and gives me all the interesting to me, in a single screen instead of being opening pages and pages to see what I wanna see. The worse part of ESPN, every page you open, you have to watch a commercial, which make the app hateable as hell, because you need a lot of time to see just some results. Yahoo is definitely less annoying
can't view the scores on the main page anymore. used to be able to follow multiple games and now have to go to each one to view the scores. please fix. in the meantime, uninstalling and looking for a different app. also for those that don't enjoy updates make older version available. actually, uninstalled and reinstalled. now app is working. however, I still think you should have older version available.
Tried multiple times. App won't load and constantly crashes trying to load. EDIT: in response to the reply... yes, I had already uninstalled and reinstalled and tried again before you commented. Still just hangs. I even told my device to just wait it out for minutes. None of my other apps are having any kind of syncing, loading, refreshing, etc., problem. But I'll download it again, restart my device and give it another shot.
This app has a good selection of Games to watch and the live score summary is always helpful. My biggest problem is buffering. It buffers every 5 seconds, including during the excessive commercials. I can barely even watch one whole livestream because the buffering is so bad. I would not recommend this app unless you have incredibly fast WIFI.
TERRIBLE NEW UPDATES. If you want to see schedules, stats, or anything except the home screen, expect to have to scroll past advertisements for random products and tickets to every single upcoming sports event. It's all sales and very little info on what most people want to see. Also, make sure you go onto their privacy website and turn off the 17 different categories they have to collect data on you. No, you can't turn them all off at one time, you have to do it one at a time. Never again yahoo
