This sports news and scores app is user-friendly. The ESPN app, in my opinion, is less so. The aesthetics of the CBS Sports App are top-notch. Everything is clean and spaced well. The scores section is also spaced well, making it easy to locate your teams' games within their respective leagues. The scores section POPS with color at the top of the scroll, showing the games of your favorite teams only. If these characteristics could be replicated in a Widget: this would make the app perfect! !!!

The app is mostly functional, as you can check scores and read articles easily. Playing highlights and clips is nearly impossible, because you are forced to watch a 30-sec ad first, and then sometimes the video you wanted to watch doesn't actually play. Streaming any kind of live video is a waste of time and rarely works. They publish a very large number of "articles" that are really advertisements trying to get you to subscribe to Sportsline, which is annoying.

I really like this app. I like how easy it is to customize what content you see, and I appreciate articles having an estimated read time. However there are a few things that drag this app down. One is that articles aren't always in chronological order, and another is that the 'schedule' tab for soccer teams only includes league matches, rather than matches from all competitions. The last thing is that when I leave the app, and then return, it doesn't always bring me back to the same page.

**EDIT: The latest update is a mess. The News tab is way too cluttered. Also, why have scores on the News tab? Bad update.** Easily the best sports app out there. Is it perfect? No it's not. But, scores are updated quickly. News is always new and up to date. Same writers have been there for years so it's nice to see familiar "faces" writing the articles. For a free app, there's not many ads at all which is huge. Only thing I wish is that it was more customizable.

CBS Sports making a big move with the new update. The new layout showing teams & old scores on home screen is too cluttered. Also there needs to be a fix for the feature with your favorite teams bar tab. Not showing all your favorites across the top, so you can't check all your favorites schedules & stats, you have to search the teams that aren't showing, making it more difficult. Continue updating & improving for better design improvements....

This app uses to be fun now it's quite the chore. I play a LOT of pick 'em type games on this app. They lock your picks 5mins before game time. They change your ranking even though you had it saved another way. If there's an early game (like games played in London or elsewhere) all picks lock even though it's considered an early game. Your final picks shouldn't lock until noon. Other apps have figured it out, why can't this one? It actually used to work properly. I've had this app for yrs. SMDH

Great for seeing scores and statistics. They also have a nice team specific X feed and news articles. What's upsetting is how slow and buggy the videos are and the baseball highlights well... skip most of the highlights and when you try to track a live game the plays don't update in even close to real time as presented

Matt Hauserman

Editing 10/13/24: apparently they did make it worse. The new selection screen for pickem is impossible to understand because the background colors for half the teams is the same black color as the rest of the screen. Accidentally removed my pick for one game because I tried to confirm it and actually unselected the team I picked, and couldn't tell because the color didn't change. The app didn't even let me know that I had a missing pick

Joe Brown

The picks side of the app is absolute trash! It's been bad and confusing in the past but they updated and made it waaaaaay worse probably the last year we will use it. The other issue is that the league manager should be able to adjust everything specifically names and what is shown. It's sad because at one point this app was much better than ESPN but now it has fallen behind.

Way too many notifications, and it ignores my notification settings. For example, I have had notifications for fantasy sports turned off for as long as I can remember, but somehow I get a notification for everything fantasy football related. Also, the hockey notifications are awful. Never received a notification that the Boston Bruins fired their head coach, yet I'm signed up for notifications. Lastly, there is no way to stop in game notifications

Mango

Tried the sports app again and it's actually worse. Scores not correct. Score section freezes then tries to catch up the next inning. In-game progress falls behind multiple batters on baseball. 90% of sports in the edit to follow category aren't even available once chosen. Better off following sports on ESPN, Yahoo, Draft K, MGM or others. Unfortunate with the best time of year approaching(football) and this app lags so far behind technologically.

App used to be tolerable when it opened straight the scores. That's why 99% of people have this app, for the scores! Now, it opens straight into the "News" feed. Waste of time! The news is also stories of sports that I couldn't care less about! I reset the filter. Nope, I still have a bunch of news feed about the bottom of the barrel sports I don't want to see. The new layout is atrocious! 🤦‍♂️

***UPDATE*** After the update, this app is bad. They had fixed my last complaint about pop up ads and I did not give credit in my review. My bad. It had become my favorite sports app again. Now they've updated the whole format of it and it's terrible. The scores are small and not easy to find. NCAA baseball is suffering you have to dig to find. Ads, which I understand are revenue generators, are too frequently interspersed with content in a way that interferes considerably with the content.

The 2021 update moved this from 4 stars to one at least so far. Before update this was by far the best sports app, replaced ESNP for me. I want scheduled games, reported scores and more only when I click on it. Now it is very hard to figure out with no instructions. Even Googled to find direction with no lick. Only shows a few of the games even with All Conf. For ex, Sat (3/13) it shows one game to be played! Will look for an alternative if they don't fix it soon.

This app is terrible. Push notifications almost always have the wrong score. Articles load, then the next one won't. I have to restart the app to view the article. Videos won't play. I have a galaxy s8.... So it's definitely not my phone. I like the setup of the app, but until the big things get fixed.... One star. How can a powerhouse like cbs have such a crappy app. Very disappointing.

A Google user

it's a very good app and easy to use, navigate, & personalize. Lots of interesting articles and up-to-date news. But... (and this is probably more on CBS Sports themselves and not the app, but YESS!! It really bugs me)... Reading some of these articles, does nobody at CBS Sports proofread the articles before they are published?? Over the last 3 years, all varieties, I have encountered massive typos, or just incorrect facts... Aside from that, yes, I like the app.

A Google user

I absolutely loved the CBS widget for the Google pixel. I could see all of the scores for any sport and it would put my preferred teams scores at the top of the list. After this last update, it no longer displays the scores, only news. This feature is terrible and I will be unistalling. I will no longer recommend this app to anyone.

Always experiencing technical difficulties to watch live TV. Tried to use the app to watch live TV with my cable provider account many times over the past 2 weeks and still doesn't work. Every single time it's experiencing technical difficulties. I didn't want to review this app badly, but it truly deserves it. Funny thing, I had a friend create a temporary new account and everything worked fine. I guess when you pay for it, that's when it struggles.

Doug W

The new layout is horrible. Why do I need to wade through all of the scores to find the section that I'm looking for? How come NASCAR is no longer an option? When I choose my preferences, select to save it, and go back in, they've changed. There are umteen choices for soccer, which is great if you have that many people into that many different soccer leagues. I had been using this app for a number of years, but it looks like it's time to find another sports app.

Johnathon Smith

I don't what to say about this app I like how my teams are at the top of the app and I can keep track of the scores but however sometimes it's hit or miss as to it's loading and seems to be very slow at times. Seems like it got worse after the update. That's it i had enough I uninstalled it and went back to the ESPN app I suggest you do the same!!!!!!!!!!!
